About goMARTI

Like many smaller communities, access to transportation was identified as one of the biggest obstacles facing residents of Grand Rapids. Due to harsh winter weather and an aging population, having a reliable on-demand transit option allows people in the community to stay safe, connected and independent.

The goMARTI deployment covers 35+ miles of roadway service and includes 70+ pick-up and drop-off points using May Mobility’s fleet of five autonomous vehicles, including three wheelchair-accessible, ADA-compliant vehicles. Riders simply request a free ride at a pickup location indicated on the May Mobility mobile app (with Apple & Google Play) or by calling 211 locally throughout most of the week and weekend during operational hours.

This on-demand program is brought in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, City of Grand Rapids, The PLUM Catalyst, Department of Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation, Itasca County, Via, University of Minnesota, Arrowhead Transit, and Mobility Mania, among others.
