AVGR: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Launched in coordination with public and private partners across the City of Grand Rapids, the Autonomous Vehicle Grand Rapids (AVGR) began as a 3.2 square mile fixed autonomous route operated on and in complement to the city’s existing DASH West bus route.

With a route length of 4.21 square miles, this AVGR service was originally launched in 2019 with a fleet of 4 electric Polaris GEM shuttles and 1 wheelchair-accessible vehicle. In July of 2021, the service was upgraded to on-demand powered by Via with a fleet of 4 Lexus RX 450h and 1 wheelchair-accessible vehicle. The free on-demand service was available to riders via the May Mobility app and is a partnership between May Mobility, Mobile GR and Gentex Corporation.
